2020 buick Encore GX Comes With An Option Of Three - Cylinder Engine

The new 2020 Buick Encore GX crossover is larger than the regular Encore, but the range of engines is smaller. The latest version of the Encore will feature a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder base engine and a turbocharged 1.3-liter three-cylinder upgrade engine as specified in the ordering instructions.

The 1.2-liter basic
engine delivers a total of 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It is standard on all versions of the Encore GX front-wheel drive and is combined with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The more powerful 1.3-liter 155 hp, 174 lb-ft, three-cylinder engine is optional with the FWD Select and Essence features and is standard on every Encore GX with all-wheel drive. The power transmission takes place via a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Although these engines are smaller than the standard 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine from Encore, Buick has kept its promise that the Encore GX will deliver more power than its smaller siblings. The 1.3-liter option of the GX has a much stronger growl, and the 1.2-liter engine surpasses the 1.4-liter torque, even though it delivers 1 horsepower less than its 138-horsepower output. The standard Encore had previously offered a stronger 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 153 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, but was deleted from the lineup.

The Encore GX is 3 inches longer and 1.3 inches wider than the standard Encore and its wheelbase is 1.6 inches longer, so it's in the crossover spectrum between sub-compact and compact.
